Volunteer with us

International volunteers are the heart and soul of our Peace Centre. Since 2013, more than 300 women and men from around the world have lived and worked with our local teams in the north of Lebanon.

Living and working at the Peace Centre

Throughout the year we welcome dedicated women and men who want to help refugees and their host communities in the field. Our volunteers live and work together on the humanitarian front line and receive free food and accommodation. They live at our new Peace Centre in Qantara, beautifully situated in a mixed Christian and Muslim village that, unlike other places in the region, has not seen sectarian violence.

As part of our ethos of bringing people from different backgrounds together, they join forces with local teachers to organise educational and recreational activities for children and adolescents from Syrian refugee and Lebanese host communities. They also tell their home countries about our cause.

Despite the difficult conditions in Lebanon, we have stood our ground since 2013 and welcomed international volunteers every year, also through Covid-19 and civil unrest. The youth we serve need us today more than ever.

Our new Peace Centre in Qantara, Akkar, is where international volunteers live.

Download the call and the form for your role. All further steps are described in the documents.

At least 3 months, renewable in fixed annual terms

Long-term volunteer assistants

For women and men who already speak some Arabic and can commit to at least three months. We look for experienced and dedicated people to assist with foreign-language teaching (French and English), project development and communications.

2 to 6 weeks, at any time of the year

Short-term project volunteers

For groups or individuals with special skills to offer in a workshop. Projects can include recreational activities such as sports tournaments or mountain trails, artistic workshops in photography, music or theatre, and skills training in IT or film.

Volunteers for our Peace Centre in Syria are recruited among those who have already served with us in Lebanon.

Volunteer from home

To select volunteers for the Peace Centre we have to insist on a few criteria, most notably a minimum age and some experience in the work we do. Even if you do not meet them, you can support our mission from home as an Associate Member of R&R International.

We have no overhead staff: everyone who supports our work abroad is a volunteer member, and your help is needed too.

  • Spread the word about our methodology in your community
  • Organise a screening of the documentary about our work, or a discussion
  • Organise a fundraising event, such as a dinner or a sponsored walk
  • Help design communication materials like flyers, brochures and websites
  • Meet other members and friends in your country and connect

Write to us through the contact page and confirm that you accept our values and norms. We reply to applications within a few weeks.
